About Us

The Sale Lacemakers Group meets every 1st, 3rd (& 5th) Monday, and 1st Saturday, of the month, Feb-Nov. We meet at the Gwen Webb Arts Activity Center, 116 Market St. in Sale, Victoria, Australia.

Our social lacemaking days begin at 10am through to 3pm, and everyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun. Bring your current lace project, a pattern/pricking you are stuck on or come and learn to make different types of handmade lace. Beginner lacemakers are welcome and will be assisted along the path to lacemaking.

While we are predominantly a group for bobbin lace in all its forms, we also have members who are proficient in Tatting, Needlelace, Crochet, and Knitted lace.  Visitors are welcome and Group memberships are available, which includes access to our extensive library of lace related materials and resources.

Sale Lacemakers are active in the local community and demonstrate regularly at a variety of local events, such as Agricultural Shows, Exhibitions, Craft Fairs and Expos, and Festivals of all kinds.

We also hold an Annual Lacemaking Weekend in Sale on the 3rd weekend in March. We attract visitors from all over Australia to this event and have a supplier present with all kinds of threads, books and supplies for the crafts-person.  We welcome Lacemakers and any others interested in coming along.  Please contact us to go on our emailing list for notifications for this event. It is a weekend not to be missed!

If you would like to know more about our group and/or directions to the center where we meet, please feel free to contact us via email at salelacemakers@gmail.com for more information.

The Sale Lacemakers have recently celebrated 30 years!
